FAQs:

About Appointments

Will Appointments be Held in Person or Via Telehealth (Video Therapy) During the Covid-19 Pandemic?

As of 01/01/2021, in person sessions are suspended. It is unclear at this time when in person appointments will resume. When in person sessions resume, they will be available on a limited basis.

Currently, all counseling sessions are being provided via telehealth (HIPAA compliant Zoom). Established clients can hold sessions by telephone, if needed.

How Often Will We Meet?

Typically, it is standard to meet weekly, particularly at the onset of therapy. However, some clients prefer to meet more or less frequently. We will assess and discuss a schedule that will work best for you and fits your needs.

How Long Do Sessions Last?

A typical therapy session will be between 45-55 minutes long. This is a standard range of time for a therapy session. If you are interested in a longer session (75 minutes), please contact me regarding availability and pricing.

How Many Sessions Will I Need?

Many people can begin seeing and experiencing a real, positive difference in mood after just a few sessions. However, it is not possible to know how many sessions you will need. Therapy is a personal journey that is unique to every individual. The number of sessions will be determined by your individual needs and goals for therapy.

Some concerns can be addressed in a few sessions while others may require years to be fully addressed. Additionally, your level of commitment, motivation, and participation in therapy will also influence the length of time needed to work through your concerns.

How Will I Know When I’ve Been in Treatment Long Enough?

Often, a person enters therapy with some specific goals in mind. Together we will periodically review, assess, update, and adjust your goals and treatment needs. When your goals are met to your satisfaction, you can decide to discontinue treatment, remain in treatment to make sure you maintain your progress, or set new goals. Remaining in therapy is always your choice.

Is What I Say Confidential?

Yes. Therapeutic conversations are generally private and confidential. However, I am a mandated reporter which means that I am legally obligated to report specific situations where a client or others are at risk, when child/elder/dependent adult abuse needs to be reported, or per a court order. All of these situations will be discussed at the start of therapy. Please ask if you have any questions.
